“Jabberwocky!”
A 10 minute shadow puppet show in a suitcase theatre with live singing.
It is technically self-sufficient, can move easily from place to place and be repeated multiple times in a set.

“The Interrupted Wedding”
A 15 minute shadow puppetry show featuring an umbrella shadow screen.
Technically self-sufficient and, like the shows above, is very compact and can therefore fit easily into non-conventional theatre spaces e.g. (cafe/bar area or the foyer).

“Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” Walkabout Show
Interactive character walkabout incorporating puppet March Hare and percussive tea table. Great for engaging with audiences outdoors or for animating indoor spaces e.g. foyers, cafes/bars.

Workshops for children and young people
Shadow Puppetry Workshops –
Simple Chinese style Shadow Puppet making for younger children/families with a Chinese theme (suitable for Chinese New Year themed events).
Simple Butterfly & Bee Shadow Puppets for younger children/families
More detailed cut out card puppets for older primary age/secondary school age children. Youth Theatre Groups can design and make their own puppets in groups and create their own performances. Guidance on different making/performing techniques and creating music/sound effects can be included. Workshops can be done with any theme/story that is required. Drop-in style workshops where participants just experiment and play are also available.

Workshops for adults, college and degree level students can include shadow puppetry for street theatre (making and performance). Miniature puppetry/”theatre for one” style shows including use of music/sound effects. This can include designing/making shadow theatres. We can cater for the participants or your own needs and interests.

Advanced/experimental shadow puppetry for professionals or enthusiastic amateurs. Looking at animating shadow faces, lip synch puppetry, use of multiple light sources, OHP, hand held torches, coloured lights, mirrors, water etc. Also looking at the potential advantages of using digital technology (making shadow puppetry films).
We are currently working on a project of this type called “The Secret Keeper”. We would be interested in working on this project as a residency at your theatre, incorporating both “open studio” and workshops.
