Shadow Puppetry Shows and Workshops
Shadow Puppets are a Rough Magic Theatre speciality. A workshop can include pupils/students learning about the origins of Shadow Puppetry, (geography and history), making their own puppets and performing their own shows. You could use our workshops to focus on the light and shadow topic for science or fairy-tales and legends for English and help to increase confidence and fluency in speaking and listening. If you are looking at a particular books or poetry then we can use that as a focus for a workshop, (we can change the theme to suit whatever you require). In addition you could enjoy one (or more!) of our classroom sized shadow puppetry shows to inspire your pupils:
“The Interrupted Wedding” (CLICK HERE FOR INFO.)
“Edward Lear’s Nonsense” (CLICK HERE FOR INFO.)
“Jabberwocky!” (CLICK HERE FOR INFO.)
Shadow Puppet Making with a Chinese theme for Nursery & Class 1 children for “Geography Week“, (would be equally suitable for Chinese New Year)
Shadow Puppet Workshop with “The Iron Man” by Ted Hughes as a theme for Year 3 pupils
We have also done shadow puppetry workshops at high schools and with degree level Puppetry students from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama which drew on our expertise of creating short shadow puppetry shows for street theatre performance.
